13 Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.

A Vision of Joshua the High Priest

Then he showed me (A)Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and (B)Satan[a] standing at his right hand to accuse him. And the Lord said to Satan, (C)“The Lord rebuke you, O Satan! The Lord who has (D)chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this (E)a brand[b] plucked from the fire?” Now (F)Joshua was standing before the angel, (G)clothed with filthy garments. And the angel said to (H)those who were standing before him, (I)“Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, (J)I have taken your iniquity away from you, and (K)I will clothe you with pure vestments.” And I said, (L)“Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord was standing by.

And the angel of the Lord solemnly assured (M)Joshua, “Thus says the Lord of hosts: If you will walk in my ways and (N)keep my charge, then you shall (O)rule my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you the right of access among (P)those who are standing here. Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who sit before you, for (Q)they are men who are a sign: behold, I will bring (R)my servant (S)the Branch. For behold, on (T)the stone that I have set before Joshua, on a single stone with (U)seven eyes,[c] I will (V)engrave its inscription, declares the Lord of hosts, and (W)I will remove the iniquity of this land in a single day. 10 In that day, declares the Lord of hosts, every one of you will invite his neighbor to come (X)under his vine and under his fig tree.”

A Vision of a Golden Lampstand

And (Y)the angel who talked with me came again (Z)and woke me, like a man who is awakened out of his sleep. And he said to me, “What do you see?” I said, “I see, and behold, (AA)a lampstand all of gold, with a bowl on the top of it, and (AB)seven lamps on it, with seven lips on each of the lamps that are on the top of it. And there are (AC)two olive trees by it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left.” And I said to (AD)the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my lord?” Then the angel who talked with me answered and said to me, (AE)“Do you not know what these are?” I said, “No, my lord.” Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to (AF)Zerubbabel: (AG)Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts. Who are you, (AH)O great mountain? Before (AI)Zerubbabel (AJ)you shall become a plain. And he shall bring forward (AK)the top stone amid shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’”

13 Be still(A) before the Lord, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.(B)

Clean Garments for the High Priest

Then he showed me Joshua(C) the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan[a](D) standing at his right side to accuse him. The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you,(E) Satan! The Lord, who has chosen(F) Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick(G) snatched from the fire?”(H)

Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.”

Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin,(I) and I will put fine garments(J) on you.”

Then I said, “Put a clean turban(K) on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the Lord stood by.

The angel of the Lord gave this charge to Joshua: “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘If you will walk in obedience to me and keep my requirements,(L) then you will govern my house(M) and have charge(N) of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here.(O)

“‘Listen, High Priest(P) Joshua, you and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic(Q) of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.(R) See, the stone I have set in front of Joshua!(S) There are seven eyes[b](T) on that one stone,(U) and I will engrave an inscription on it,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will remove the sin(V) of this land in a single day.

10 “‘In that day each of you will invite your neighbor to sit(W) under your vine and fig tree,(X)’ declares the Lord Almighty.”

The Gold Lampstand and the Two Olive Trees

Then the angel who talked with me returned and woke(Y) me up, like someone awakened from sleep.(Z) He asked me, “What do you see?”(AA)

I answered, “I see a solid gold lampstand(AB) with a bowl at the top and seven lamps(AC) on it, with seven channels to the lamps. Also there are two olive trees(AD) by it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left.”

I asked the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my lord?”

He answered, “Do you not know what these are?”

“No, my lord,” I replied.(AE)

So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:(AF) ‘Not(AG) by might nor by power,(AH) but by my Spirit,’(AI) says the Lord Almighty.

“What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground.(AJ) Then he will bring out the capstone(AK) to shouts(AL) of ‘God bless it! God bless it!’”
