⁹ “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation^(A) of this temple; his hands will also complete it.^(B) Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me^(C) to you.

¹⁴ So the elders of the Jews continued to build and prosper under the preaching^(A) of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah, a descendant of Iddo. They finished building the temple according to the command of the God of Israel and the decrees of Cyrus,^(B) Darius^(C) and Artaxerxes,^(D) kings of Persia. ¹⁵ The temple was completed on the third day of the month Adar, in the sixth year of the reign of King Darius.^(E)

¹² Tell him this is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Here is the man whose name is the Branch,^(A) and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the Lord.^{(B) 13} It is he who will build the temple of the Lord, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he^[a] will be a priest^(C) on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.’

² fixing our eyes on Jesus,^(A) the pioneer^(B) and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross,^(C) scorning its shame,^(D) and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.^(E)

¹⁶ But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me.^{(A) 17} In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true.^{(B) 18} I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”^(C)

³⁶ “I have testimony weightier than that of John.^(A) For the works that the Father has given me to finish—the very works that I am doing^(B)—testify that the Father has sent me.^{(C) 37} And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me.^(D) You have never heard his voice nor seen his form,^(E)

¹⁷ For God did not send his Son into the world^(A) to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.^(B)
