⁵ Then the angel who spoke with me answered me, “Do you not know what these are?” I said, “No, my lord.”

¹³ He said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” I said, “No, my lord.”

¹² Now we have received not the spirit of the world but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. ¹³ And we speak of these things in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual things to those who are spiritual.^[a](A)

¹⁴ Those who are unspiritual^[b] do not receive the gifts of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to them, and they are unable to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.^{(B) 15} Those who are spiritual discern all things, and they are themselves subject to no one else’s scrutiny.

¹³ And he said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? Then how will you understand all the parables?

⁹ Then I said, “What are these, my lord?” The angel who spoke with me said to me, “I will show you what they are.”^(A)

³⁰ But as for me, this mystery has not been revealed to me because of any wisdom that I have more than any other living being, but in order that the interpretation may be known to the king and that you may understand the thoughts of your mind.^(A)

¹⁶ Joseph answered Pharaoh, “It is not I; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.”^(A)
