⁴ And I said to ^(A)the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my lord?”

⁴ Then I answered and said to ^(A)the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my lord?”

⁹ Then I said, ‘What are these, my lord?’ ^(A)The angel who talked with me said to me, ‘I will show you what they are.’

¹³ Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, ^(A)clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” ¹⁴ I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of ^(B)the great tribulation. ^(C)They have washed their robes and ^(D)made them white ^(E)in the blood of the Lamb.

The Parable of the Weeds Explained

³⁶ Then he left the crowds and went into ^(A)the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, ^(B)“Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.”

⁶ And I said, “What is it?” He said, “This is ^(A)the basket^[a] that is going out.” And he said, “This is their iniquity^[b] in all the land.”

¹² And a second time I answered and said to him, “What are these ^(A)two branches of the olive trees, which are beside the two golden pipes from which the golden oil^[a] is poured out?” ¹³ He said to me, ^(B)“Do you not know what these are?” I said, “No, my lord.” ¹⁴ Then he said, ^(C)“These are the two anointed ones^[b] who stand by ^(D)the Lord of the whole earth.”

¹⁹ And I said to ^(A)the angel who talked with me, “What are these?” And he said to me, ^(B)“These are the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”

⁸ I heard, ^(A)but I did not understand. Then I said, “O my lord, what shall be the outcome of these things?”

¹⁶ I approached one of those who stood there and asked him the truth concerning all this. So he told me and made known to me the interpretation of the things. ^17 (A)‘These four great beasts are four kings who shall arise out of the earth. ¹⁸ But ^(B)the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, forever and ever.’
