⁸ For thus said the Lord of hosts after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you: Truly, one who touches you touches the apple of my eye.^[a](A)

⁴⁰ And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me.’^(A)

⁶ For it is indeed just of God to repay with affliction those who afflict you

²¹ But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.^{(A) 22} If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.^{(B) 23} Whoever hates me hates my Father also.^(C)

²⁶ But the Advocate,^[a] the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have said to you.^(A)

Edom Mistreated His Brother

² I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat, and I will enter into judgment with them there, on account of my people and my heritage Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations. They have divided my land^{(A) 3} and cast lots for my people and traded boys for prostitutes and sold girls for wine and drunk it down.^(B)

⁴ What are you to me, O Tyre and Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Are you paying me back for something? If you are paying me back, I will turn your deeds back upon your own heads swiftly and speedily.^{(C) 5} For you have taken my silver and my gold and have carried my rich treasures into your temples.^{[a] 6} You have sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks, removing them far from their own border. ⁷ But now I will rouse them to leave the places to which you have sold them, and I will turn your deeds back upon your own heads.^{(D) 8} I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans, to a nation far away, for the Lord has spoken.^(E)
