Him Whom They Have Pierced

¹⁰ “And ^(A)I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and ^(B)pleas for mercy, so that, ^(C)when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, ^(D)they shall mourn for him, ^(E)as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.

⁷ Behold, ^(A)he is coming with the clouds, and ^(B)every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail^[a] on account of him. Even so. Amen.

^29 (A)And I will not hide my face anymore from them, when ^(B)I pour out my Spirit upon the house of Israel, declares the Lord God.”

The Lord Will Pour Out His Spirit

^33 (A)Being therefore ^(B)exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from ^(C)the Father ^(D)the promise of the Holy Spirit, ^(E)he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.

³⁴ But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out ^(A)blood and water. ^35 (B)He who saw it has borne witness—^(C)his testimony is true, and he knows that he is telling the truth—^(D)that you also may believe. ^36 (E)For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled: ^(F)“Not one of his bones ^(G)will be broken.” ³⁷ And again another Scripture says, ^(H)“They will look on him whom they have pierced.”

¹⁸ praying ^(A)at all times ^(B)in the Spirit, ^(C)with all prayer and supplication. To that end, ^(D)keep alert with all perseverance, making ^(E)supplication for all the saints,

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For ^(A)we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but ^(B)the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
