¹² Then the angel of the Lord said, “Lord Almighty, how long^(A) will you withhold mercy^(B) from Jerusalem and from the towns of Judah,^(C) which you have been angry with these seventy^(D) years?”

⁵ “Ask all the people of the land and the priests, ‘When you fasted^(A) and mourned in the fifth and seventh^(B) months for the past seventy years,^(C) was it really for me that you fasted?

² in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy^(A) years.

¹⁰ They called out in a loud voice, “How long,^(A) Sovereign Lord,^(B) holy and true,^(C) until you judge the inhabitants of the earth^(D) and avenge our blood?”^(E)

²⁵ Therefore he is able to save^(A) completely^[a] those who come to God^(B) through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.^(C)

¹⁰ Then the man standing among the myrtle trees explained, “They are the ones the Lord has sent to go throughout the earth.”^(A)

¹¹ And they reported to the angel of the Lord^(B) who was standing among the myrtle trees, “We have gone throughout the earth and found the whole world at rest and in peace.”^(C)
