12 (A)One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. (B)Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not giving heed to Jewish fables and (C)commandments of men who turn from the truth. 15 (D)To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to (E)know God, but (F)in works they deny Him, being [a]abominable, disobedient, (G)and disqualified for every good work.

12 One of Crete’s own prophets(A) has said it: “Cretans(B) are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”[a] 13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke(C) them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith(D) 14 and will pay no attention to Jewish myths(E) or to the merely human commands(F) of those who reject the truth.(G) 15 To the pure, all things are pure,(H) but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure.(I) In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.(J) 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him.(K) They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.(L)
