⁵ For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith ^(A)with virtue,^[a] and virtue ^(B)with knowledge, ⁶ and knowledge with self-control, and self-control ^(C)with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, ⁷ and godliness ^(D)with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection ^(E)with love. ⁸ For if these qualities^[b] are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or ^(F)unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹³ And ^(A)we also thank God constantly^[a] for this, that when you received ^(B)the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it ^(C)not as the word of men^[b] but as what it really is, the word of God, ^(D)which is at work in you believers.

⁴ since we heard of ^(A)your faith in Christ Jesus and of ^(B)the love that you have for all the saints, ⁵ because of ^(C)the hope ^(D)laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in ^(E)the word of the truth, the gospel, ⁶ which has come to you, as indeed ^(F)in the whole world it is ^(G)bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you ^(H)heard it and understood ^(I)the grace of God in truth,

⁷ If ^(A)you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ^(B)ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

¹³ He will ^(A)love you, bless you, and multiply you. ^(B)He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your wine and your oil, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock, in the land that he swore to your fathers to give you. ¹⁴ You shall be blessed above all peoples. ^(C)There shall not be male or female barren among you or among your livestock.

^26 (A)None shall miscarry or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the ^(B)number of your days.
