²⁹ But, as ^(A)he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, ^(B)even so it is now.

²² strengthening the souls of the disciples, ^(A)exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, ^(B)“We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.”

^51 (A)Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, ^(B)but rather division. ^52 (C)For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. ^53 (D)Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

⁶ But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away.

³⁵ For I have come to ^(A)‘set^[a] a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; ³⁶ and ^(B)‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’

²⁵ It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If ^(A)they have called the master of the house ^[a]Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!

²² And ^(A)you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. ^(B)But he who endures to the end will be saved.
