²⁹ But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh ^(A)persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, ^(B)so also it is now.

^22 (A)strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them ^(B)to continue in ^(C)the faith, and saying that ^(D)through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.

^51 (A)Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? ^(B)No, I tell you, but rather division. ⁵² For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. ⁵³ They will be divided, ^(C)father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

⁶ And ^(A)when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, ^(B)it withered away.

^35 (A)For I have come ^(B)to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. ^36 (C)And a person's enemies will be those of his own household.

²⁵ It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. ^(A)If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign^[a] those of his household.

^22 (A)and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. ^(B)But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
