Salmo de Asaf.
1 Ciertamente bueno es Dios a Israel, a los limpios de corazón.
2 En cuanto a mí, casi se apartaron mis pies; por poco resbalaron mis pasos.
3 Porque me enojé contra los locos, viendo la paz de los impíos.
4 Porque no hay ataduras para su muerte; antes su fortaleza está entera.
5 No pasan trabajos como otros seres humanos; ni son azotados con los hombres.
6 Por tanto, la soberbia los corona; se cubren de vestido de violencia.
7 Sus ojos están salidos de gruesos; logran con creces los antojos del corazón.
8 Se soltaron, y hablan con maldad de hacer violencia; hablan con altanería.
9 Ponen contra el cielo su boca, y su lengua pasea la tierra.
10 Por eso su pueblo volverá aquí, y aguas de lleno le son exprimidas.
11 Y dirán: ¿Cómo sabe Dios? ¿Y hay conocimiento en lo más alto?
12 He aquí estos impíos, sin ser turbados del mundo, alcanzaron riquezas.
13 Verdaderamente en vano he limpiado mi corazón, y lavado mis manos en limpieza;
14 y he sido azotado todo el día, y castigado por las mañanas:
15 ¶ Si dijera yo, hablaré como ellos; he aquí habría negado la generación de tus hijos:
16 Pensaré pues para entender esto; es a mis ojos duro trabajo.
17 Hasta que venga al santuario de Dios, entonces entenderé la postrimería de ellos.
18 Ciertamente los has puesto en deslizaderos; en asolamientos los harás caer.
19 ¡Cómo han sido asolados! ¡Cuán en un punto! Se acabaron, fenecieron con turbaciones.
20 Como sueño del que despierta, así, Señor, cuando despertares, menospreciarás sus apariencias.
21 ¶ Se desazonó a la verdad mi corazón, y en mis riñones sentía punzadas.
22 Mas yo era ignorante, y no entendía; era como una bestia acerca de ti.
23 Con todo, yo siempre estuve contigo; trabaste de mi mano derecha.
24 Me has guiado según tu consejo, y después me recibirás con gloria.
25 ¿A quién tengo yo en los cielos sino a ti? Y fuera de ti nada deseo en la tierra.
26 Mi carne y mi corazón desfallecen; la fuerza de mi corazón es que mi porción es Dios para siempre.
27 Porque he aquí, los que se alejan de ti perecerán; tú cortas a todo aquel que fornica de ti.
28 Y en cuanto a mí, el acercarme a Dios me es el bien; he puesto en el Señor DIOS mi esperanza, para contar todas tus obras.

A Psalm of Asaph.
[a]73 Surely God is good to Israel,
Even to such as are pure in heart.
2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone;
My steps had well nigh slipped.
3 For I was envious at the [b]arrogant,
When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 For there are no pangs in their death;
But their strength is firm.
5 They are not [c]in trouble as other men;
Neither are they plagued like other men.
6 Therefore pride is as a chain about their neck;
Violence covereth them as a garment.
7 Their eyes stand out with fatness:
[d]They have more than heart could wish.
8 They scoff, and in wickedness utter oppression:
They speak [e]loftily.
9 They have set their mouth [f]in the heavens,
And their tongue walketh through the earth.
10 Therefore [g]his people return hither:
And waters of a full cup are drained by them.
11 And they say, How doth God know?
And is there knowledge in the Most High?
12 Behold, these are the wicked;
And, being alway at ease, they increase in riches.
13 Surely in vain have I cleansed my heart,
And washed my hands in innocency;
14 For all the day long have I been plagued,
And [h]chastened every morning.
15 If I had said, I will speak thus;
Behold, I had dealt treacherously with the generation of thy children.
16 When I thought how I might know this,
It was [i]too painful for me;
17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God,
And considered their latter end.
18 Surely thou settest them in slippery places:
Thou castest them down to [j]destruction.
19 How are they become a desolation in a moment!
They are utterly consumed with terrors.
20 As a dream when one awaketh,
So, O Lord, [k]when thou awakest, thou wilt despise their image.
21 For my soul [l]was grieved,
And I was pricked in my [m]heart:
22 So brutish [n]was I, and ignorant;
I was as a beast [o]before thee.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee:
Thou hast holden my right hand.
24 Thou wilt guide me with thy counsel,
And afterward receive me [p]to glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but thee?
And there is none upon earth that I desire [q]besides thee.
26 My flesh and my heart faileth;
But God is the [r]strength of my heart and my portion for ever.
27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish:
Thou hast destroyed all them that play the harlot, departing from thee.
28 But it is good for me to draw near unto God:
I have made the Lord Jehovah my refuge,
That I may tell of all thy works.

Psalm 73
A psalm of Asaph.
1 Surely God is good to Israel,
to those who are pure in heart.(A)
2 But as for me, my feet had almost slipped;(B)
I had nearly lost my foothold.(C)
3 For I envied(D) the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.(E)
4 They have no struggles;
their bodies are healthy and strong.[a]
5 They are free(F) from common human burdens;
they are not plagued by human ills.
6 Therefore pride(G) is their necklace;(H)
they clothe themselves with violence.(I)
7 From their callous hearts(J) comes iniquity[b];
their evil imaginations have no limits.
8 They scoff, and speak with malice;(K)
with arrogance(L) they threaten oppression.(M)
9 Their mouths lay claim to heaven,
and their tongues take possession of the earth.
10 Therefore their people turn to them
and drink up waters in abundance.[c]
11 They say, “How would God know?
Does the Most High know anything?”
13 Surely in vain(P) I have kept my heart pure
and have washed my hands in innocence.(Q)
14 All day long I have been afflicted,(R)
and every morning brings new punishments.
15 If I had spoken out like that,
I would have betrayed your children.
16 When I tried to understand(S) all this,
it troubled me deeply
17 till I entered the sanctuary(T) of God;
then I understood their final destiny.(U)
18 Surely you place them on slippery ground;(V)
you cast them down to ruin.(W)
19 How suddenly(X) are they destroyed,
completely swept away(Y) by terrors!
20 They are like a dream(Z) when one awakes;(AA)
when you arise, Lord,
you will despise them as fantasies.(AB)
21 When my heart was grieved
and my spirit embittered,
22 I was senseless(AC) and ignorant;
I was a brute beast(AD) before you.
23 Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.(AE)
24 You guide(AF) me with your counsel,(AG)
and afterward you will take me into glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?(AH)
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.(AI)
26 My flesh and my heart(AJ) may fail,(AK)
but God is the strength(AL) of my heart
and my portion(AM) forever.
