³² and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of ^(A)death, they not only do the same, but also ^(B)approve of those who practice them.

²⁰ because ^(A)by the works ^[a]of the Law ^[b]none of mankind will be justified in His sight; for ^[c](B)through the Law comes ^[d]knowledge of sin.

¹² Therefore, just as through ^(A)one man sin entered into the world, and ^(B)death through sin, and ^(C)so death spread to all mankind, because all sinned—

¹⁶ Do you not ^(A)know that the one to whom you present yourselves as ^(B)slaves for obedience, you are slaves of that same one whom you obey, either of ^(C)sin ^[a]resulting in death, or of obedience ^[b]resulting in righteousness?

²¹ Therefore what ^[a](A)benefit were you then ^[b]deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is ^(B)death.

^7 (A)What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? ^[a](B)Far from it! On the contrary, ^(C)I would not have come to know sin except ^[b]through the Law; for I would not have known about ^[c]coveting if the Law had not said, “^(D)You shall not ^[d]covet.”

^6 (A)For the mind ^[a]set on the flesh is ^(B)death, but the mind ^[b]set on the Spirit is life and peace,

¹³ for ^(A)if you are living in accord with the flesh, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you are ^(B)putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

^8 (A)For the one who sows to his own flesh will reap ^(B)destruction from the flesh, but ^(C)the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
