15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery [a]leading to fear again, but you have received [b]a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, [c]in hope21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.23 And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before [a]Him. In love5 [b]He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the [c]kind intention of His will,
Galatians 3:26-4:7New American Standard Bible (NASB)
26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is [a]neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.29 And if you [b]belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s [c]descendants, heirs according to promise.
Sonship in Christ
4 Now I say, as long as the heir is a [d]child, he does not differ at all from a slave although he is [e]owner of everything,2 but he is under guardians and [f]managers until the date set by the father.3 So also we, while we were children, were held in bondage under the [g]elemental things of the world.4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under [h]the Law,5 so that He might redeem those who were under [i]the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.6 Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”7 Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir [j]through God.
