Testing of Your Faith

^2 (A)Count it all joy, my brothers,^[a] when you meet trials ^(B)of various kinds, ³ for you know that ^(C)the testing of your faith ^(D)produces steadfastness.

^12 (A)Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive ^(B)the crown of life, ^(C)which God has promised to those who love him.

^14 (A)But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. ^(B)Have no fear of them, ^(C)nor be troubled,

⁹ But he said to me, ^(A)“My grace is sufficient for you, for ^(B)my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that ^(C)the power of Christ may rest upon me. ^10 (D)For the sake of Christ, then, ^(E)I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For ^(F)when I am weak, then I am strong.

¹⁷ For ^(A)this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,

²² “Blessed are you when ^(A)people hate you and when they ^(B)exclude you and revile you and ^(C)spurn your name as evil, ^(D)on account of the Son of Man! ^23 (E)Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for ^(F)so their fathers did to the prophets.

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ As it is written,

³⁷ No, in all these things we are more than ^(C)conquerors through ^(D)him who loved us.

¹⁰ For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, ^(A)that we may share his holiness. ^11 (B)For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields ^(C)the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
