¹⁴ Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, ^(A)who is a type of Him who was to come.

⁴⁵ And so it is written, ^(A)“The first man Adam became a living being.” ^(B)The last Adam became ^(C)a life-giving spirit.

²² For we know that the whole creation ^(A)groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.

²⁰ For ^(A)the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;

¹⁷ For if by the one man’s ^[a]offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

^27 (A)And as it is appointed for men to die once, ^(B)but after this the judgment,

²¹ so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹¹ And should I not pity Nineveh, ^(A)that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons ^(B)who cannot discern between their right hand and their left—and much livestock?”

²² So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, ^(A)“Every son who is ^[a]born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.”
