The Promise Granted Through Faith

¹³ For the promise that he would be the ^(A)heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

²⁹ And ^(A)if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s ^(B)seed, and ^(C)heirs according to the promise.

¹⁴ Also your ^(A)descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad ^(B)to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and ^(C)in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

¹⁷ blessing I will ^(A)bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants ^(B)as the stars of the heaven ^(C)and as the sand which is on the seashore; and ^(D)your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. ^18 (E)In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, ^(F)because you have obeyed My voice.”

⁸ That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but ^(A)the children of the promise are counted as the seed.

⁴ “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be ^(A)a father of ^[a]many nations. ⁵ No longer shall ^(B)your name be called ^[b]Abram, but your name shall be ^[c]Abraham; ^(C)for I have made you a father of ^[d]many nations. ⁶ I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make ^(D)nations of you, and ^(E)kings shall come from you.

¹⁶ Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of ^(A)one, ^(B)“And to your Seed,” who is ^(C)Christ. ¹⁷ And this I say, that the law, ^(D)which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God ^[a]in Christ, ^(E)that it should make the promise of no effect. ¹⁸ For if ^(F)the inheritance is of the law, ^(G)it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

¹⁶ And I will bless her ^(A)and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother ^(B)of nations; ^(C)kings of peoples shall be from her.”
