From Jerusalem to Illyricum

¹⁴ Now ^(A)I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, ^(B)filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish ^[a]one another.

²¹ I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

Peter’s Approaching Death

¹² For this reason ^(A)I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, ^(B)though you know and are established in the present truth.

¹⁰ For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s temple, will not ^(A)the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols?

⁷ However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, ^(A)with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is ^(B)defiled.

Be Sensitive to Conscience

8 Now ^(A)concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have ^(B)knowledge. ^(C)Knowledge ^[a]puffs up, but love ^[b]edifies.

³ the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— ⁴ that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,

Maintain Your Life with God

²⁰ But you, beloved, ^(A)building yourselves up on your most holy faith, ^(B)praying in the Holy Spirit, ²¹ keep yourselves in the love of God, ^(C)looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

²² And on some have compassion, ^[a]making a distinction; ²³ but ^(D)others save ^[b]with fear, ^(E)pulling them out of the ^[c]fire, hating even ^(F)the garment defiled by the flesh.

Fruitful Growth in the Faith

⁵ But also for this very reason, ^(A)giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue ^(B)knowledge, ⁶ to knowledge self-control, to self-control ^[a]perseverance, to perseverance godliness, ⁷ to godliness brotherly kindness, and ^(C)to brotherly kindness love. ⁸ For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither ^[b]barren ^(D)nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
