A New Covenant

³¹ “Behold, the ^(A)days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— ³² not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that ^(B)I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, ^[a]though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. ^33 (C)But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: ^(D)I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their ^[b]hearts; ^(E)and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. ³⁴ No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for ^(F)they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For ^(G)I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

^25 (A)Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you ^(B)from all your filthiness and from all your idols. ²⁶ I will give you a ^(C)new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. ²⁷ I will put My ^(D)Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. ^28 (E)Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; ^(F)you shall be My people, and I will be your God. ²⁹ I will ^(G)deliver you from all your uncleannesses. ^(H)I will call for the grain and multiply it, and ^(I)bring no famine upon you.

²¹ “As^(A) for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.”

³⁸ They shall be ^(A)My people, and I will be their God; ³⁹ then I will ^(B)give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them. ⁴⁰ And ^(C)I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but ^(D)I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me.

^16 (A)“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,”

⁸ Because finding fault with them, He says: ^(A)“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— ⁹ not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord. ¹⁰ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the ^(B)Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and ^(C)I will be their God, and they shall be My people. ^11 (D)None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the ^(E)Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. ¹² For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, ^(F)and their sins ^[a]and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

The Lamb of God^(A)

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! ^(B)The Lamb of God ^(C)who takes away the sin of the world!
