¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel,^(A) because it is the power of God^(B) that brings salvation to everyone who believes:^(C) first to the Jew,^(D) then to the Gentile.^(E)

³⁸ If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man^(A) will be ashamed of them^(B) when he comes^(C) in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

⁸ So do not be ashamed^(A) of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner.^(B) Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel,^(C) by the power of God.

¹² That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame,^(A) because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard^(B) what I have entrusted to him until that day.^(C)

¹⁶ However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.^(A)

²⁶ Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them^(A) when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.^(B)

⁵ because our gospel^(A) came to you not simply with words but also with power,^(B) with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know^(C) how we lived among you for your sake. ⁶ You became imitators of us^(D) and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering^(E) with the joy^(F) given by the Holy Spirit.^(G)

⁴ The god^(A) of this age^(B) has blinded^(C) the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ,^(D) who is the image of God.^(E)
