^19 (A)Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.

³² But when we are judged by the Lord, ^(A)we are disciplined^[a] so that we may not be ^(B)condemned along with the world.

⁵ And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?

⁷ It is for discipline that you have to endure. ^(D)God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? ⁸ If you are left without discipline, ^(E)in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. ⁹ Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to ^(F)the Father of spirits ^(G)and live? ¹⁰ For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, ^(H)that we may share his holiness. ^11 (I)For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields ^(J)the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

⁵ Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do ^(A)the works you did at first. If not, ^(B)I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

²¹ I gave her time to repent, but ^(A)she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. ²² Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works,

¹¹ For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, ^(A)what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves innocent in the matter.
