⁴ But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.

¹² And because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold. ¹³ But the one who endures to the end will be saved.^(A)

² Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem, Thus says the Lord:

⁴ Hear the word of the Lord, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel. ⁵ Thus says the Lord:

¹⁰ For God is not unjust; he will not overlook your work and the^[a] love that you showed for his sake^[b] in serving the saints, as you still do.^{(A) 11} And we want each one of you to show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope to the very end,^(B)

⁹ And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight^(A)

Thanksgiving

³ We must always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.^(A)

⁹ Now concerning love of the brothers and sisters, you do not need to have anyone write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another,^{(A) 10} and indeed you do love all the brothers and sisters throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more,

¹³ Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have laid hold^[a] of it, but one thing I have laid hold of: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,^{(A) 14} I press on toward the goal, toward the prize of the heavenly^[b] call of God in Christ Jesus.^{(B) 15} Let those of us, then, who are mature^[c] think this way, and if you think differently about anything, this, too, God will reveal to you.^{(C) 16} Only let us hold fast to what we have attained.^(D)

The Message to Laodicea

¹⁴ “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the origin^[a] of God’s creation:^(A)

¹⁵ “I know your works; you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were either cold or hot. ¹⁶ So, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I am about to spit you out of my mouth. ¹⁷ For you say, ‘I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing.’ You do not realize that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.^(B)
