^20 (A)“Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you ^[a]holy apostles and prophets, for ^(B)God has avenged you on her!”

Heaven Exults over Babylon

19 After these things ^(A)I ^[a]heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Alleluia! ^(B)Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to ^[b]the Lord our God! ² For ^(C)true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He ^(D)has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her.” ³ Again they said, “Alleluia! ^(E)Her smoke rises up forever and ever!”

¹² Therefore ^(A)rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! ^(B)Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, ^(C)because he knows that he has a short time.”

¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice, saying, ^(A)“How long, O Lord, ^(B)holy and true, ^(C)until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”

⁴⁹ Therefore the wisdom of God also said, ^(A)‘I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’ ⁵⁰ that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation,

^17 (A)But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:

² that you may be mindful of the words ^(A)which were spoken before by the holy prophets, ^(B)and of the commandment of ^[a]us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior,

¹¹ And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,

²⁰ having been ^(A)built ^(B)on the foundation of the ^(C)apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being ^(D)the chief cornerstone,
