¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice, saying, ^(A)“How long, O Lord, ^(B)holy and true, ^(C)until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” ¹¹ Then a ^(D)white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them ^(E)that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.

²⁴ And ^(A)in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who ^(B)were slain on the earth.”

⁶ I saw ^(A)the woman, drunk ^(B)with the blood of the saints and with the blood of ^(C)the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.

The Meaning of the Woman and the Beast

⁷ But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the ^[a]mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

¹⁵ He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak ^(A)and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

⁴⁹ Therefore the wisdom of God also said, ^(A)‘I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’ ⁵⁰ that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation,

² For ^(A)true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He ^(B)has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her.”
