I know your deeds,(A) your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested(B) those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.(C) You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name,(D) and have not grown weary.

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.(E) Consider how far you have fallen! Repent(F) and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand(G) from its place. But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans,(H) which I also hate.

I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.
