³² For God ^(A)has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all.

³³ Oh, the depth of the riches and ^(B)wisdom and knowledge of God! ^(C)How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

David's Census

24 ^(A)(B)Again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, ^(C)“Go, number Israel and Judah.”

David's Census Brings Pestilence

21 ^(A)Then ^(B)Satan stood against Israel and incited David to number Israel.

²² And the Lord said to him, ‘By what means?’ And he said, ‘I will go out, and will be ^(A)a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And he said, ‘You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go out and do so.’ ²³ Now therefore behold, the Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; the Lord has declared disaster for you.”

⁴ Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and mistreat me.” But his armor-bearer would not, for he feared greatly. Therefore Saul took his own sword and fell upon it.

¹⁰ But the king said, ^(A)“What have I to do with you, ^(B)you sons of Zeruiah? If he is cursing because the Lord has said to him, ‘Curse David,’ who then shall say, ‘Why have you done so?’”

²³ this Jesus,^{[a] (A)}delivered up according to ^(B)the definite plan and ^(C)foreknowledge of God, ^(D)you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.

²⁷ for truly in this city there were gathered together against your ^(A)holy servant Jesus, ^(B)whom you anointed, both ^(C)Herod and ^(D)Pontius Pilate, along ^(E)with the Gentiles and ^(F)the peoples of Israel, ^28 (G)to do whatever your hand and ^(H)your plan had predestined to take place.
