¹⁷ So ^(A)faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

²³ But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.^[a]

^20 (A)To the teaching and to the testimony! If they will not speak according to this word, it is because they have no ^(B)dawn.

¹¹ Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, ^(A)examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

^22 (A)You worship what you do not know; ^(B)we worship what we know, for ^(C)salvation is ^(D)from the Jews.

¹² It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence,^[a] and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, ^(A)whose mortal wound was healed.

¹⁶ Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave,^{[a] (A)}to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, ¹⁷ so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, ^(B)the name of the beast or ^(C)the number of its name.
