The Thirsting Soul Satisfied in God.

A Psalm of David, [a]when he was in the wilderness of Judah.

63 God, (A)You are my God; I shall be watching for You;
My soul (B)thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,
In a (C)dry and exhausted land where there is no water.
So have I (D)seen You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and glory.
Because Your [b](E)favor is better than life,
My lips will praise You.
So I will bless You (F)as long as I live;
I will (G)lift up my hands in Your name.
My soul is (H)satisfied as with fat and fatness,
And my mouth offers (I)praises with joyful lips.

When I remember You (J)on my bed,
I meditate on You in the (K)night watches,
For (L)You have been my help,
And in the (M)shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
My soul (N)clings [c]to You;
Your (O)right hand takes hold of me.

But those who (P)seek my [d]life to destroy it,
Will go into the [e](Q)depths of the earth.
10 [f]They will be [g](R)turned over to the power of the sword;
They will be a [h](S)prey for foxes.
11 But the (T)king will rejoice in God;
Everyone who (U)swears by Him will boast,
For the (V)mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped.

Israel Invoked to Praise the Lord.

149 [a]Praise [b]the Lord!
Sing a (A)new song to the Lord,
And His praise (B)in the congregation of the godly ones.
Israel shall be joyful in (C)his Maker;
The sons of Zion shall rejoice in their (D)King.
They shall praise His name with (E)dancing;
They shall sing praises to Him with (F)tambourine and lyre.
For the Lord (G)takes pleasure in His people;
He will (H)glorify the lowly with salvation.

The (I)godly ones shall be jubilant in glory;
They shall (J)sing for joy on their beds.
The (K)high praises of God shall be in their [c]mouths,
And a (L)two-edged (M)sword in their hands,
To (N)execute vengeance on the nations,
And punishment on the peoples,
To bind their kings (O)with chains,
And their (P)dignitaries with shackles of iron,
To (Q)execute against them the judgment written.
This is an (R)honor for all His godly ones.
[d]Praise [e]the Lord!

The Death of Moses

34 (A)Now Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the Lord (B)showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan, and all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah as far as the [a](C)western sea, and the [b]Negev and the territory in the Valley of Jericho, (D)the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar. Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land which (E)I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your [c]descendants’; I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not go over there.” So Moses (F)the servant of the Lord (G)died there in the land of Moab, in accordance with the [d]word of the Lord. And He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, (H)opposite Beth-peor; but (I)no one knows his burial place to this day. Although Moses was (J)120 years old when he died, (K)his eyesight was not dim, nor had his vigor left him. So the sons of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab for thirty days; then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses came to an end.

Now Joshua the son of Nun was (L)filled with the spirit of wisdom, because Moses had laid his hands on him; and the sons of Israel listened to him and did as the Lord had commanded Moses. 10 Since that time (M)no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom (N)the Lord knew face to face, 11 for all the signs and wonders which the Lord sent him to perform in the land of Egypt against Pharaoh, all his servants, and all his land— 12 and for all the mighty [e]power and all the great terror which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.

14 How then are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? How are they to believe in Him (A)whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without (B)a preacher? 15 But how are they to preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written: “(C)How beautiful are the feet of those who [a](D)bring good news of good things!”

16 However, they (E)did not all heed the [b]good news; for Isaiah says, “(F)Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So faith comes from (G)hearing, and hearing by (H)the word [c]of Christ.

18 But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? On the contrary:

(I)Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
And their words to the ends of the [d]world.”

19 But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says,

(J)I will (K)make you jealous with those who are not a nation,
With a foolish nation I will anger you.”

20 And Isaiah is very bold and says,

(L)I was found by those who did not seek Me,
I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me.”

21 But as for Israel, He says, “(M)I have spread out My hands all day long to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

Parable of the Fig Tree

32 “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: as soon as its branch has become tender and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near; 33 so you too, when you see all these things, [a]recognize that [b]He is near, right (A)at the [c]door. 34 Truly I say to you, (B)this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35 (C)Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

36 “But (D)about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. 37 For [d]the (E)coming of the Son of Man will be (F)just like the days of Noah. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, (G)marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that (H)Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not [e]understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the (I)coming of the Son of Man be. 40 At that time there will be two men in the field; one [f]will be taken and one [g]will be left. 41 (J)Two women will be grinding at the [h](K)mill; one [i]will be taken and one [j]will be left.

Be Ready for His Coming

42 “Therefore (L)be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. 43 But [k]be sure of this, that (M)if the head of the house had known (N)at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 44 For this reason (O)you must be ready as well; for (P)the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.

45 (Q)Who then is the (R)faithful and (S)sensible slave whom his [l]master (T)put in charge of his household slaves, to give them their food at the proper time? 46 Blessed is that slave whom his [m]master finds so doing when he comes. 47 Truly I say to you that (U)he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 But if that evil slave says in his heart, ‘My [n]master [o]is not coming for a long time,’ 49 and he begins to beat his fellow slaves, and he eats and drinks with those habitually drunk; 50 then the [p]master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect, and at an hour that he does not know, 51 and he will [q]cut him in two and assign [r]him a place with the hypocrites; in that place there will be (V)weeping and gnashing of teeth.
