Psalm 90

A prayer of Moses the man of God.

¹Lord, you have been our dwelling place^(A)
    throughout all generations.
²Before the mountains were born^(B)
    or you brought forth the whole world,
    from everlasting to everlasting^(C) you are God.^(D)

³You turn people back to dust,
    saying, “Return to dust, you mortals.”^(E)
⁴A thousand years in your sight
    are like a day that has just gone by,
    or like a watch in the night.^(F)
⁵Yet you sweep people away^(G) in the sleep of death—
    they are like the new grass of the morning:
⁶In the morning it springs up new,
    but by evening it is dry and withered.^(H)

New International Version

¹³Relent, Lord! How long^(A) will it be?
    Have compassion on your servants.^(B)
¹⁴Satisfy^(C) us in the morning with your unfailing love,^(D)
    that we may sing for joy^(E) and be glad all our days.^(F)
¹⁵Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
    for as many years as we have seen trouble.
¹⁶May your deeds be shown to your servants,
    your splendor to their children.^(G)

¹⁷May the favor^[a] of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands.^(H)

⁴⁴Moses came with Joshua^[a]^(A) son of Nun and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people. ⁴⁵When Moses finished reciting all these words to all Israel, ⁴⁶he said to them, “Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day,^(B) so that you may command^(C) your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. ⁴⁷They are not just idle words for you—they are your life.^(D) By them you will live long^(E) in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”

³⁹You study^[a] the Scriptures^(A) diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life.^(B) These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,^(C) ⁴⁰yet you refuse to come to me^(D) to have life.

⁴¹“I do not accept glory from human beings,^(E) ⁴²but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. ⁴³I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. ⁴⁴How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God^[b]?^(F)

⁴⁵“But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses,^(G) on whom your hopes are set.^(H) ⁴⁶If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.^(I) ⁴⁷But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?”^(J)
