For there is (A)nothing [a]trustworthy in [b]their mouth;
Their (B)inward part is destruction itself.
Their (C)throat is an open grave;
They [c]flatter with their tongue.
10 Make them pay, God;
(D)Have them fall by their own schemes!
(E)Scatter them in the multitude of their wrongdoings,
For they are (F)rebellious against You.

  3. Psalm 5:9 Or make their tongue smooth

In (A)arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the needy;
[a]Let them be (B)caught in the plots which they have devised.

For the wicked (C)boasts of his (D)soul’s desire,
And [b]the greedy person curses and (E)shows disrespect to the Lord.
The wicked, [c]in his haughtiness, (F)does not seek Him.
(G)There is no God in all his schemes.

His ways (H)succeed at all times;
Yet Your judgments are on high, (I)out of his sight;
As for all his enemies, he snorts at them.
He says to himself, “(J)I will not be moved;
[d]Throughout the generations (K)I will not be in adversity.”
His (L)mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and (M)oppression;
(N)Under his tongue is harm and injustice.
He sits in the (O)lurking places of the villages;
He (P)kills the innocent in the secret places;
His eyes [e]surreptitiously watch for the [f](Q)unfortunate.
He lurks in secret like (R)a lion in his [g]lair;
He (S)lurks to catch (T)the needy;
He catches the needy when he pulls him into his (U)net.
10 Then he crushes the needy one, who cowers;
And [h]unfortunate people fall by his mighty power.
11 He (V)says to himself, “God has forgotten;
He has hidden His face; He will never see it.”

Wickedness of Humanity and Goodness of God.

For the music director. A Psalm of David the servant of the Lord.

36 [a]Wrongdoing speaks to the ungodly within [b]his heart;
There is (A)no fear of God before his eyes.
For it (B)flatters him in his own eyes
Concerning the discovery of his wrongful deed and the hatred of it.
The (C)words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit;
He has (D)ceased to [c]be wise and to do good.
He (E)plans wickedness on his bed;
He sets himself on a (F)path that is not good;
He (G)does not reject evil.
