The Death of Joseph

²² Joseph stayed in Egypt, along with all his father’s family. He lived a hundred and ten years^{(A) 23} and saw the third generation^(B) of Ephraim’s^(C) children.^(D) Also the children of Makir^(E) son of Manasseh^(F) were placed at birth on Joseph’s knees.^[a](G)

²⁴ Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die.^(H) But God will surely come to your aid^(I) and take you up out of this land to the land^(J) he promised on oath to Abraham,^(K) Isaac^(L) and Jacob.”^{(M) 25} And Joseph made the Israelites swear an oath^(N) and said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones^(O) up from this place.”^(P)

²⁶ So Joseph died^(Q) at the age of a hundred and ten.^(R) And after they embalmed him,^(S) he was placed in a coffin in Egypt.

²⁰ In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. ²¹ Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi,^(A) look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”

²² “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. ²³ “Truly^[a] I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.^{(B) 24} Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.^{(C) 25} And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”^(D)
