Psalm 106:1-15 New International Version - UK (NIVUK)
1 Praise the Lord.[a]
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
2 Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord
4 Remember me, Lord, when you show favour to your people,
6 We have sinned, even as our ancestors did;
13 But they soon forgot what he had done
2 Corinthians 9:6-15 New International Version - UK (NIVUK)
6 Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:
‘They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
Isaiah 14-16 New International Version - UK (NIVUK)
14 The Lord will have compassion on Jacob;
3 On the day the Lord gives you relief from your suffering and turmoil and from the harsh labour forced on you, 4 you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon:
How the oppressor has come to an end!
9 The realm of the dead below is all astir
12 How you have fallen from heaven,
16 Those who see you stare at you,
18 All the kings of the nations lie in state,
Let the offspring of the wicked
22 ‘I will rise up against them,’
24 The Lord Almighty has sworn,
‘Surely, as I have planned, so it will be,
26 This is the plan determined for the whole world;
A prophecy against the Philistines
28 This prophecy came in the year King Ahaz died:
29 Do not rejoice, all you Philistines,
31 Wail, you gate! Howl, you city!
A prophecy against Moab
15 A prophecy against Moab:
Ar in Moab is ruined,
5 My heart cries out over Moab;
16 Send lambs as tribute
3 ‘Make up your mind,’ Moab says.
The oppressor will come to an end,
6 We have heard of Moab’s pride –
13 This is the word the Lord has already spoken concerning Moab. 14 But now the Lord says: ‘Within three years, as a servant bound by contract would count them, Moab’s splendour and all her many people will be despised, and her survivors will be very few and feeble.’
