Psalm 17:4-14
New American Standard Bible
4 As for the works of mankind, (A)by the word of Your lips
I have kept from the (B)ways of the violent.
5 My (C)steps have held to Your [a]paths.
My (D)feet have not slipped.
6 I have (E)called upon You, for You will answer me, God;
(F)Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech.
7 (G)Show Your wonderful faithfulness,
(H)Savior of those who take refuge [b]at Your right hand
From those who rise up against them.
8 Keep me as [c]the (I)apple of the eye;
Hide me (J)in the shadow of Your wings
9 From the (K)wicked who deal violently with me,
My (L)deadly enemies who surround me.
10 They have (M)closed their [d]unfeeling hearts,
With their mouths they (N)speak proudly.
11 They have now (O)surrounded us in our steps;
They set their eyes (P)to cast us down to the ground.
12 He is (Q)like a lion that is eager to tear,
And as a young lion (R)lurking in secret places.
13 (S)Arise, Lord, confront him, (T)make him bow down;
(U)Save my soul from the wicked with (V)Your sword,
14 From people by (W)Your hand, Lord,
From people [e]of the world, (X)whose portion is in this life,
And whose belly You (Y)fill with Your treasure;
They are satisfied with children,
And leave their abundance to their babies.
