Psalm 17:4-14

⁴As for the works of mankind, ^(A)by the word of Your lips
I have kept from the ^(B)ways of the violent.
⁵My ^(C)steps have held to Your ^[a]paths.
My ^(D)feet have not slipped.

⁶I have ^(E)called upon You, for You will answer me, God;
^(F)Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech.
⁷^(G)Show Your wonderful faithfulness,
^(H)Savior of those who take refuge ^[b]at Your right hand
From those who rise up against them.
⁸Keep me as ^[c]the ^(I)apple of the eye;
Hide me ^(J)in the shadow of Your wings
⁹From the ^(K)wicked who deal violently with me,
My ^(L)deadly enemies who surround me.
¹⁰They have ^(M)closed their ^[d]unfeeling hearts,
With their mouths they ^(N)speak proudly.
¹¹They have now ^(O)surrounded us in our steps;
They set their eyes ^(P)to cast us down to the ground.
¹²He is ^(Q)like a lion that is eager to tear,
And as a young lion ^(R)lurking in secret places.

¹³^(S)Arise, Lord, confront him, ^(T)make him bow down;
^(U)Save my soul from the wicked with ^(V)Your sword,
¹⁴From people by ^(W)Your hand, Lord,
From people ^[e]of the world, ^(X)whose portion is in this life,
And whose belly You ^(Y)fill with Your treasure;
They are satisfied with children,
And leave their abundance to their babies.
