Psalm 112 The Voice (VOICE)

Psalm 112[a]

Praise the Eternal!
    How blessed are those who revere the Eternal,
    who turn from evil and take great pleasure in His commandments.
Their children will be a powerful force upon the earth;
    this generation that does what is right in God’s eyes will be blessed.
His house will be stocked with wealth and riches,
    and His love for justice will endure for all time.
When life is dark, a light will shine for those who live rightly—
    those who are merciful, compassionate, and strive for justice.
Good comes to all who are gracious and share freely;
    they conduct their affairs with sound judgment.
Nothing will ever rattle them;
    the just will always be remembered.
They will not be afraid when the news is bad
    because they have resolved to trust in the Eternal.
Their hearts are confident, and they are fearless,
    for they expect to see their enemies defeated.
They give freely to the poor;
    their righteousness endures for all time;[b]
    their strength and power is established in honor.
10 The wicked will be infuriated when they see the good man honored!
    They will clench their teeth and dissolve to nothing;
    and when they go, their wicked desires will follow.

Proverbs 18:6-12 The Voice (VOICE)

When a fool’s lips move, a fight breaks out;
    it’s as if his mouth is begging for a beating.
The mouths of fools are their destruction,
    and their lips entrap their very souls.
Whispered gossip is like a delicious first course:
    it is devoured with pleasure and penetrates deeply.
Those who slack off at work
    are no different from vandals.
10 The Eternal is known to be like a sturdy watchtower;
    those who do right flee to Him for protection.
11 The rich think their wealth is their sturdy fortress;
    they imagine it to be an invincible wall of security.
12 A proud heart precedes destruction,
    and before honor is humility.

1 Peter 4:7-11 The Voice (VOICE)

We are coming to the end of all things, so be serious and keep your wits about you in order to pray more forcefully. Most of all, love each other steadily and unselfishly, because love makes up for many faults. Show hospitality to each other without complaint. 10 Use whatever gift you’ve received for the good of one another so that you can show yourselves to be good stewards of God’s grace in all its varieties. 11 If you’re called upon to talk, speak as though God put the words in your mouth; if you’re called upon to serve others, serve as though you had the strength of God behind you. In these ways, God may be glorified in all you do through Jesus the Anointed, to whom belongs glory and power, now and forever. Amen.
