^21 (A)that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, ^(B)as long as the heavens are above the earth.

³² He will be great and will be called the Son of ^(A)the Most High. And the Lord God ^(B)will give to him the throne of ^(C)his father David, ³³ and he will reign over the house of Jacob ^(D)forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

⁴⁴ And in the days of those kings ^(A)the God of heaven will set up ^(B)a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. ^(C)It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and ^(D)it shall stand forever,

²⁴ “My servant ^(A)David ^(B)shall be king over them, and they shall all have ^(C)one shepherd. ^(D)They shall walk in my rules and be careful to obey my statutes. ^25 (E)They shall dwell in the land that I gave to my servant Jacob, where your fathers lived. They and their children and their children's children shall dwell there ^(F)forever, and David my servant shall be their prince ^(G)forever.

¹⁷ “For thus says the Lord: ^(A)David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel, ^18 (B)and the Levitical priests shall never lack a man in my presence to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to make sacrifices forever.”

¹⁹ The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: ^20 (C)“Thus says the Lord: ^(D)If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, ^(E)so that day and night will not come at their appointed time, ^21 (F)then also my covenant with David my servant may be broken, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with the Levitical priests my ministers. ²² As ^(G)the host of heaven cannot be numbered and ^(H)the sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the offspring of David my servant, and the Levitical priests who minister to me.”

²³ The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: ²⁴ “Have you not observed that these people are saying, ‘The Lord has rejected the two clans that he chose’? Thus they have despised my people so that they are no longer a nation in their sight. ²⁵ Thus says the Lord: ^(I)If I have not established my covenant with day and night and the fixed order of heaven and earth, ²⁶ then I will reject the offspring of Jacob and David my servant and will not choose one of his offspring to rule over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. ^(J)For I will restore their fortunes and will have mercy on them.”
