¹ I cried out to God^(A) for help;
    I cried out to God to hear me.

¹ I cry aloud^(B) to the Lord;
    I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy.^(C)
2 I pour out before him my complaint;^(D)
    before him I tell my trouble.^(E)

¹ The Mighty One, God, the Lord,^(A)
    speaks and summons the earth
    from the rising of the sun to where it sets.^(B)

¹ I said, “I will watch my ways^(A)
    and keep my tongue from sin;^(B)
I will put a muzzle on my mouth^(C)
    while in the presence of the wicked.”

¹ Truly my soul finds rest^(A) in God;^(B)
    my salvation comes from him.

¹ I love the Lord,^(A) for he heard my voice;
    he heard my cry^(B) for mercy.^(C)
2 Because he turned his ear^(D) to me,
    I will call on him as long as I live.
