¹⁸ If I had not confessed the sin in my heart,
    the Lord would not have listened.

⁹ God detests the prayers
    of a person who ignores the law.

²⁹ The Lord is far from the wicked,
    but he hears the prayers of the righteous.

⁸ The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked,
    but he delights in the prayers of the upright.

¹⁵ When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not look.
    Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen,
    for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims.

¹³ Those who shut their ears to the cries of the poor
    will be ignored in their own time of need.

⁸ For what hope do the godless have when God cuts them off
    and takes away their life?
⁹ Will God listen to their cry
    when trouble comes upon them?

²¹ Be on guard! Turn back from evil,
    for God sent this suffering
    to keep you from a life of evil.
