⁶ During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.^(A)

²¹ Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city.^(A)

⁶ Adoni-Bezek fled, but they chased him and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and big toes.

⁷ Then Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off have picked up scraps under my table. Now God has paid me back^(A) for what I did to them.” They brought him to Jerusalem,^(B) and he died there.

⁶⁴ Then the Lord will scatter^(A) you among all nations,^(B) from one end of the earth to the other.^(C) There you will worship other gods—gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.^(D)

²⁷ The Lord will scatter^(A) you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive^(B) among the nations to which the Lord will drive you.
