Woe to the Oppressors

¹² And a host will be given over to it together with the regular burnt offering because of transgression,^[a] and it will throw truth to the ground, and ^(A)it will act and prosper.

¹⁶ And from that moment he sought an opportunity ^(A)to betray him.

^4 (A)and plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.

²⁴ His power shall be great—^(A)but not by his own power; and he shall cause fearful destruction ^(B)and shall succeed in what he does, ^(C)and destroy mighty men and the people who are the saints.

⁶ But he disdained^[a] to lay hands on Mordecai alone. So, as they had made known to him the people of Mordecai, Haman sought to destroy^[b] all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus.

¹⁰ But Absalom sent secret messengers throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then say, ‘Absalom is king at Hebron!’” ¹¹ With Absalom went two hundred men from Jerusalem ^(A)who were invited guests, and they went in their innocence and knew nothing. ¹² And while Absalom was offering the sacrifices, he sent for^{[a] (B)}Ahithophel the Gilonite, ^(C)David's counselor, from his city ^(D)Giloh. And the conspiracy grew strong, and the people with Absalom ^(E)kept increasing.
