⁹ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law,^(A) but that which is through faith in^[a] Christ—the righteousness^(B) that comes from God on the basis of faith.^(C)

⁴ But when the kindness^(A) and love of God our Savior^(B) appeared,^{(C) 5} he saved us,^(D) not because of righteous things we had done,^(E) but because of his mercy.^(F) He saved us through the washing^(G) of rebirth and renewal^(H) by the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out on us^(I) generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,

Praise for Spiritual Blessings in Christ

³ Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,^(A) who has blessed us in the heavenly realms^(B) with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

⁹ Do not repay evil with evil^(A) or insult with insult.^(B) On the contrary, repay evil with blessing,^(C) because to this^(D) you were called^(E) so that you may inherit a blessing.^(F)

¹⁰ and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior^(A) attractive.^(B)

¹¹ For the grace^(C) of God has appeared^(D) that offers salvation to all people.^{(E) 12} It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions,^(F) and to live self-controlled,^(G) upright and godly lives^(H) in this present age, ¹³ while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing^(I) of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,^{(J) 14} who gave himself for us^(K) to redeem us from all wickedness^(L) and to purify^(M) for himself a people that are his very own,^(N) eager to do what is good.^(O)

⁵ For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.^(A)

¹⁴ He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus,^(A) so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.^(B)
