¹⁶ Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. ¹⁷ And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ ¹⁸ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, ^(A)“Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; ^(B)eat, drink, and be merry.” ’ ²⁰ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night ^(C)your soul will be required of you; ^(D)then whose will those things be which you have provided?’

⁸ “The Lord will ^(A)command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you ^(B)set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

⁴ “Blessed shall be ^(A)the ^[a]fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.

³ So He humbled you, ^(A)allowed you to hunger, and ^(B)fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall ^(C)not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

¹³ And He will ^(A)love you and bless you and ^[a]multiply you; ^(B)He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He ^[b]swore to your fathers to give you. ¹⁴ You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be a male or female ^(C)barren among you or among your livestock.
