¹ O God, you are my God; I seek you;
    my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
    as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.^(A)

⁹     my eye grows dim through sorrow.
Every day I call on you, O Lord;
    I spread out my hands to you.^(A)

² My soul longs, indeed it faints,
    for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh sing for joy
    to the living God.^(A)

¹ As a deer longs for flowing streams,
    so my soul longs for you, O God.^(A)
2 My soul thirsts for God,

When shall I come and behold
    the face of God?^(B)

⁸ In the path of your judgments,
    O Lord, we have placed hope;
your name and your renown
    are the soul’s desire.^(A)
9 My soul yearns for you in the night;
    my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
For when your judgments are in the earth,
    the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.^(B)

⁷ the burning sand shall become a pool
    and the thirsty ground springs of water;
the haunt of jackals shall become a swamp;^[a]
    the grass shall become reeds and rushes.^(A)
