    like the slain who lie in the grave,
whom you remember no more,

⁶ You have put me in the lowest pit,
    in the darkest depths.^(D)

⁴ May those who seek my life^(A)
    be disgraced^(B) and put to shame;^(C)
may those who plot my ruin
    be turned back^(D) in dismay.

⁹ from the wicked who are out to destroy me,
    from my mortal enemies who surround me.^(A)

¹⁰ They close up their callous hearts,^(B)
    and their mouths speak with arrogance.^(C)
11 They have tracked me down, they now surround me,^(D)
    with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground.
¹² They are like a lion^(E) hungry for prey,^(F)
    like a fierce lion crouching in cover.

¹³ Rise up,^(G) Lord, confront them, bring them down;^(H)
    with your sword rescue me from the wicked.

⁵ then let my enemy pursue and overtake^(A) me;
    let him trample my life to the ground^(B)
