^28 (A)And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather ^(B)fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in ^[a]hell.

¹⁶ Now therefore, send quickly and tell David, saying, ‘Do not spend this night ^(A)in the plains of the wilderness, but speedily cross over, lest the king and all the people who are with him be swallowed up.’ ”

²⁴ And indeed, as your life was valued much this day in my eyes, so let my life be valued much in the eyes of the Lord, and let Him deliver me out of all tribulation.”

⁹ But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him; ^(A)for who can stretch out his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless?”

⁶ And he said to his men, ^(A)“The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the Lord’s anointed, to stretch out my hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord.” ⁷ So David ^(B)restrained his servants with these words, and did not allow them to rise against Saul. And Saul got up from the cave and went on his way.

²⁶ Then Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain. ^(A)So David made haste to get away from Saul, for Saul and his men ^(B)were encircling David and his men to take them.

^27 (C)But a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Hurry and come, for the Philistines have invaded the land!”
