^17 (A)The dead do not praise the Lord,
Nor any who go down into silence.

^5 (A)For in death there is no remembrance of You;
In the grave who will give You thanks?

¹⁰ Will You work wonders for the dead?
Shall ^[a]the dead arise and praise You? Selah
¹¹ Shall Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave?
Or Your faithfulness in the place of destruction?
¹² Shall Your wonders be known in the dark?
And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

¹⁸ For ^(A)Sheol cannot thank You,
Death cannot praise You;
Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your truth.
¹⁹ The living, the living man, he shall praise You,
As I do this day;
^(B)The father shall make known Your truth to the children.

^17 (A)Do not let me be ashamed, O Lord, for I have called upon You;
Let the wicked be ashamed;
^(B)Let them be silent in the grave.

⁹ “What profit is there in my blood,
When I go down to the pit?
^(A)Will the dust praise You?
Will it declare Your truth?

^9 (A)He will guard the feet of His saints,
But the ^(B)wicked shall be silent in darkness.
