⁹ On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations^(A) that attack Jerusalem.^(B)

³ Then the Lord will go out and fight^(A) against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle.^{(B) 4} On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,^(C) east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split^(D) in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. ⁵ You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake^[a](E) in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come,^(F) and all the holy ones with him.^(G)

⁶ On that day there will be neither sunlight^(H) nor cold, frosty darkness. ⁷ It will be a unique^(I) day—a day known only to the Lord—with no distinction between day and night.^(J) When evening comes, there will be light.^(K)

⁸ On that day living water^(L) will flow^(M) out from Jerusalem, half of it east^(N) to the Dead Sea and half of it west to the Mediterranean Sea, in summer and in winter.^(O)

⁹ The Lord will be king^(P) over the whole earth.^(Q) On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.^(R)

¹⁰ The whole land, from Geba^(S) to Rimmon,^(T) south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be raised up^(U) high from the Benjamin Gate^(V) to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate,^(W) and from the Tower of Hananel^(X) to the royal winepresses, and will remain in its place.^{(Y) 11} It will be inhabited;^(Z) never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure.^(AA)

Judgment and Covenant Renewal

4 ^[a]“Surely the day is coming;^(A) it will burn like a furnace.^(B) All the arrogant^(C) and every evildoer will be stubble,^(D) and the day that is coming will set them on fire,^(E)” says the Lord Almighty. “Not a root or a branch^(F) will be left to them. ² But for you who revere my name,^(G) the sun of righteousness^(H) will rise with healing^(I) in its rays. And you will go out and frolic^(J) like well-fed calves. ³ Then you will trample^(K) on the wicked; they will be ashes^(L) under the soles of your feet on the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty.
