18 (A)Your heart will muse on the terror:
    “Where is he who counted, where is (B)he who weighed the tribute?
    Where is (C)he who counted the towers?”
19 (D)You will see no more the insolent people,
    the people (E)of an obscure speech that you cannot comprehend,
    stammering in a tongue that you cannot understand.
20 Behold Zion, the city of our appointed feasts!
    (F)Your eyes will see Jerusalem,
    an untroubled habitation, an (G)immovable tent,
whose stakes will never be plucked up,
    nor will any of its cords be broken.

18 In your thoughts you will ponder the former terror:(A)
    “Where is that chief officer?
Where is the one who took the revenue?
    Where is the officer in charge of the towers?(B)
19 You will see those arrogant people(C) no more,
    people whose speech is obscure,
    whose language is strange and incomprehensible.(D)

20 Look on Zion,(E) the city of our festivals;
    your eyes will see Jerusalem,
    a peaceful abode,(F) a tent(G) that will not be moved;(H)
its stakes will never be pulled up,
    nor any of its ropes broken.

31 Then I brought the leaders of Judah up onto the wall and appointed two great choirs that gave thanks. (A)One went to the south on the wall to (B)the Dung Gate. 32 And after them went Hoshaiah and half of the leaders of Judah, 33 and Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam, 34 Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, and Jeremiah, 35 and certain of the priests' sons (C)with trumpets: Zechariah the son of Jonathan, son of Shemaiah, son of Mattaniah, son of Micaiah, son of Zaccur, son of Asaph; 36 and his relatives, Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani, (D)with the musical instruments of David (E)the man of God. And Ezra the scribe went before them. 37 At (F)the Fountain Gate they went up straight before them by (G)the stairs of the city of David, at the ascent of the wall, above the house of David, to (H)the Water Gate on the east.

38 (I)The other choir of those who gave thanks went to the north, and I followed them with half of the people, on the wall, above (J)the Tower of the Ovens, to (K)the Broad Wall, 39 and above (L)the Gate of Ephraim, and by (M)the Gate of Yeshanah,[a] and by (N)the Fish Gate and (O)the Tower of Hananel and (P)the Tower of the Hundred, to (Q)the Sheep Gate; and they came to a halt at (R)the Gate of the Guard. 40 So both choirs of those who gave thanks stood in the house of God, and I and half of the officials with me;

38 The second choir proceeded in the opposite direction. I followed them on top of[c] the wall, together with half the people—past the Tower of the Ovens(I) to the Broad Wall,(J) 39 over the Gate of Ephraim,(K) the Jeshanah[d] Gate,(L) the Fish Gate,(M) the Tower of Hananel(N) and the Tower of the Hundred,(O) as far as the Sheep Gate.(P) At the Gate of the Guard they stopped.
