Psalm 121-124
New American Standard Bible
The Lord, the Keeper of Israel.
A Song of Ascents.
121 I will (A)raise my eyes to (B)the mountains;
From where will my help come?
2 My (C)help comes from the Lord,
Who (D)made heaven and earth.
3 He will not (E)allow your foot to slip;
He who (F)watches over you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who watches over Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your [a](G)protector;
The Lord is your (H)shade on your right hand.
6 The (I)sun will not [b]beat down on you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will [c](J)protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
8 The Lord will [d](K)guard your going out and your coming in
(L)From this time and forever.
Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem.
A Song of Ascents, of David.
122 I was glad when they said to me,
“Let’s (M)go to the house of the Lord.”
2 Our feet are standing
Within your (N)gates, Jerusalem,
3 Jerusalem, that has been (O)built
As a city that is (P)firmly joined together;
4 To which the tribes (Q)go up, the tribes of [e]the Lord—
[f]An ordinance for Israel—
To give thanks to the name of the Lord.
5 For (R)thrones were set there for judgment,
The thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the (S)peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who (T)love you.
7 May peace be within your (U)walls,
And prosperity within your (V)palaces.”
8 For the sake of my (W)brothers and my friends,
I will now say, “(X)May peace be within you.”
9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will (Y)seek your good.
Prayer for the Lord’s Help.
A Song of Ascents.
123 To You I have (Z)raised my eyes,
You who (AA)are enthroned in the heavens!
2 Behold, as the eyes of (AB)servants look to the hand of their master,
As the eyes of a female servant to the hand of her mistress,
So our (AC)eyes look to the Lord our God,
Until He is gracious to us.
3 (AD)Be gracious to us, Lord, be gracious to us,
For we have had much more than enough of (AE)contempt.
4 Our soul has had much more than enough
Of the (AF)scoffing of (AG)those who are at ease,
And with the (AH)contempt of the proud.
Praise for Rescue from Enemies.
A Song of Ascents, of David.
124 “(AI)Had it not been the Lord who was on our side,”
(AJ)Let Israel say,
2 “Had it not been the Lord who was on our side
When people rose up against us,
3 Then they would have (AK)swallowed us alive,
When their (AL)anger was kindled against us;
4 Then the (AM)waters would have flooded over us,
The stream would have [g]swept over our souls;
5 Then the (AN)raging waters would have [h]swept over our souls.”
6 Blessed be the Lord,
Who has not given us [i]to be (AO)torn by their teeth.
7 Our souls have (AP)escaped (AQ)like a bird from the trapper’s (AR)snare;
The snare is broken and we have escaped.
8 Our (AS)help is in the name of the Lord,
Who (AT)made heaven and earth.

New International Version
Psalm 121
A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven(A) and earth.(B)
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches(C) over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over(D) you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun(E) will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm(F)—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.(G)
Psalm 122
A song of ascents. Of David.
1 I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
2 Our feet are standing
in your gates, Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem is built like a city
that is closely compacted together.
4 That is where the tribes go up—
the tribes of the Lord—
to praise the name of the Lord
according to the statute given to Israel.
5 There stand the thrones for judgment,
the thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love(H) you be secure.
7 May there be peace(I) within your walls
and security within your citadels.(J)”
8 For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek your prosperity.(K)
Psalm 123
A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to you,
to you who sit enthroned(L) in heaven.
2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord(M) our God,
till he shows us his mercy.
3 Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us,
for we have endured no end of contempt.
4 We have endured no end
of ridicule from the arrogant,
of contempt from the proud.
Psalm 124
A song of ascents. Of David.
1 If the Lord had not been on our side—
let Israel say(N)—
2 if the Lord had not been on our side
when people attacked us,
3 they would have swallowed us alive
when their anger flared against us;
4 the flood(O) would have engulfed us,
the torrent(P) would have swept over us,
5 the raging waters
would have swept us away.
