⁶ For Yahweh will give wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
⁷ For the upright, he stores^[a] sound judgment, a shield for those who walk uprightly,
⁸ in order to guard paths of justice
    and keep^[b] the way of his faithful ones.

³ May loyal love^[a] and truth not forsake you;
    bind them around your neck,
    write them upon your heart.
⁴ And you shall find favor and good sense^[b]
    in the eyes of God and humankind.

¹¹ Do not despise the discipline of Yahweh, my child.
    Do not be weary of his reproof

²¹ For before the eyes of Yahweh are human ways,^[a]
    and all his paths he examines.

¹⁶ There are six things Yahweh hates,
    and seven things are abominations of his soul:^[a]
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
    and hands that shed innocent blood,
¹⁸ a devising heart, plans of deception,
    feet that hurry to run to evil,^[b]
19 a false witness who breathes lies
    and sends out discord^[c] between brothers.

³ In every place, the eyes of Yahweh
    keep watch over the evil and the good.

¹¹ Sheol^[a] and Abaddon^[b] are before Yahweh,
    how much more^[c] the hearts of the children of men!

²⁹ Yahweh is far from the wicked,
    but the prayers of the righteous he will hear.
