Believers Are Salt and Light^(A)

¹³ “You are the salt of the earth; ^(B)but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

^14 (C)“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

²⁶ Therefore I testify to you this day that I am ^(A)innocent^[a] of the blood of all men. ²⁷ For I have not ^[b]shunned to declare to you ^(B)the whole counsel of God. ^28 (C)Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit ^(D)has made you overseers, to shepherd the church ^[c]of God ^(E)which He purchased ^(F)with His own blood. ²⁹ For I know this, that after my departure ^(G)savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. ³⁰ Also ^(H)from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking ^[d]perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. ³¹ Therefore watch, and remember that ^(I)for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.

³ For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? ^(A)Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. ⁴ For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.

¹² So then ^(A)each of us shall give account of himself to God.

¹² for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, ^(A)for the ^[a]edifying of ^(B)the body of Christ,

⁶ Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

^10 (A)finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. ¹¹ And have ^(B)no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather ^[a]expose them. ^12 (C)For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. ¹³ But ^(D)all things that are ^[b]exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. ¹⁴ Therefore He says:

Walk in Wisdom

^15 (F)See then that you walk ^[c]circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, ^16 (G)redeeming the time, ^(H)because the days are evil.

^17 (I)Therefore do not be unwise, but ^(J)understand ^(K)what the will of the Lord is. ¹⁸ And ^(L)do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, ¹⁹ speaking to one another ^(M)in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making ^(N)melody in your heart to the Lord, ^20 (O)giving thanks always for all things to God the Father ^(P)in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁵ Now ^(A)the purpose of the commandment is love ^(B)from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from ^[a]sincere faith,
